3 Biggest Mistakes With Law of Attraction – Are YOU Making Them?

So you’ve been studying law of attraction. Reading the books, watching the videos, and going to the workshops. Still, you want to know why isn’t it working for YOU.

I’m a big believer in working with the natural laws of the universe when it comes to building your business. One of those laws is that of working with your energy and knowing how attraction works. Like the law of gravity, you can’t see attraction energy. You just have to trust that it’s at work all the time.

I’ve noticed over the years of working with clients creating businesses using these principles that they run into three common problems. I bet you’ve experienced this too. The first mistake is that you place your power in the wrong place. You put your power into the vision board, the affirmation, or the intention. For example, you get excited to attract new clients, so you create a vision board featuring pictures and images representing your new ideal client. And then you step back and wonder when the board is going to work its magic.

The problem is that you’ve put the power IN the vision board. The power should be in YOU. The vision board is there to ignite your passion, your desire, your curiosity and your openness. It’s there to ignite the power within YOU, not the other way around. When your power is alive in you, then you engage with life differently. You show up and look for opportunities, you put your intentions out confidently, you speak differently and you write differently. All of these inspired passionate actions bring you closer to what’s on your vision board. You’ve shifted, and therefore, things, people, opportunities shift.

The second mistake I see is you want to manage the timing of your intention. You say you want five new clients, and then you close up and don’t allow the opportunities in. You wonder why it isn’t happening right now. Then you get impatient and irritable and wonder why your business intentions aren’t happening this instant. So you start making bargains with the universe. Then things get really messy! The harder you hold on, the messier it gets.

There’s a fine art to being totally committed and letting it unfold. The real key is to carve out quiet time (don’t wrinkle your nose - you know it’s true!) and listen. Then follow the energy. Usually the steps are in front of you, but you’re too much in a ball of stress to see the lighted path of inspired action. I’ve learned to pay attention to my energy – it will direct me to what I want and it will happen when I’m ready to allow it.

The third mistake is that you forget. You get excited about an intention for your business. You are ready to grow and expand and you are excited for about two days, and then you go back to business as usual. If you want a big shift, you have to do things differently – meaning you start by thinking about things differently. It starts by having reminders like vision boards, positive affirmations and intention cards and even a great business coach to keep your desire front and center. It reminds you to be alive and to dare to be in your joy right here, right now. That’s attraction magic!

I Wonder Game Video Leads to Media Coverage

Actually, I played the I Wonder Game and got in the Sunday AJC on Memorial Day weekend.

The day you posted the video link on your Facebook status (May 5: I remember because Cinco De Mayo is significant in the story), I decided to play the game for the entire day. Every FB status I posted involved, I Wonder…. I had an Incubator Workshop that morning and some meetings in the afternoon and didn’t get home until 6pm or so. Around 7:30pm I realized that it was Cinco de Mayo and that I might like a marguerita and chips, but I didn’t want to go alone. So, I used “I Wonder” and posted to Facebook: I wonder what exciting adventure might be had if I went out for Cinco de Mayo alone?

As soon as I posted it I saw that one of my friends was hanging out at a restaurant not too far from me, so I asked to join her. As it turns out, she works in PR and knew about a PR opportunity regarding women and our relationships with our bathing suit. I know her through LWL, and she had heard me tell the story about my decision last summer to buy a two-piece bathing suit, wear it to my community pool party, and post a picture of self in said suit on my website. She suggested that I submit the story. Because I was in the “I Wonder” mode, I submitted the story. Not only did the reporter interview me, she asked to print my bikini pic in the paper. (The online version of the article doesn’t have the picture, but you can get a link to the article on my blog and see the picture here: http://curvylife.com/2009/05/24/facing-down-the-bikini/ ) This is my first, real piece of media coverage on my blog, so it’s very exciting.

And it all started with the I Wonder Game. I shared this story at the last LINC Up!, and had everyone play the game for the duration of the event.

Business Goddesses Connect with Spirit through Nature

Yesterday I spent a wonderfully delicious day with my two sons at Callaway Gardens.  We spent time just being in nature together - swimming in the lake, watching butterflies in the butterfly conservatory, riding bikes on the paths through the woods...today I feel so grounded and yet inspired.  I believe nature has a unique way of connecting us with spirit...our higher wisdom...our highest self.

My upcoming workshop, Business Goddess Marketing Breakthrough Experience, is going to be right on the ocean front of the Atlanta Ocean.  I purposely choose this location because I know how nature inspires us...we'll integrate the vast possibilities of the sea to wake us to our potential at this unique workshop.

Your Path to Greater Success Leap, Step, Step, Leap

Leaps in your business are both inspiring and powerful. Creating a new product, writing a new book, launching a new premium program… reaching more people, changing and bettering more lives and, of course, making more money are all common leaps you may desire in your business. These leaps in results are what shift your business to the next level of success.

Leaps don’t just happen, though.

You don’t wake up one day, and leaps of success and results just appear.

Here’s the real secret to creating leaps in your business. The first part of the leap formula is setting aside time to purposely envision the leaps. What kind of leaps do you want in your business? A few examples are working with more clients, attraction publicity, winning awards that reinforce your expertise and credibility, publishing a book, sitting on Oprah’s couch, making more money, charging more money, and providing unique experiences for your clients.

Again, the first part to leaping in your business is incorporating reflection and visioning time into your week. You have to carve out time and space in your day to let the creative ideas come into your consciousness. These creative inspirations are the magic to big business dreams. This is where your leap starts.

The second part of the formula for creating leaps in your business is more everyday-practical. You have to take action – take baby steps. The leaps you envisioned in the first part define your actions. Because the only way to manifest the leap in your vision – to make it real – is to take steps everyday toward your expansion. Write the email campaigns, make the calls, say yes, and follow through with the opportunities that appear before you and are aligned with your big leap.

As you take these steps toward your vision, you get clearer and closer to your leap. It becomes energized – you have enthusiasm, belief, the power of conviction, which pulls you forward into more inspired action steps. And you may need to go back and tweak your vision – tweak your leap.

Once you experience a leap in your results, then you’ll be looking for your next leap of growth. It’s in our very nature to want creative expansion. Leaping in your vision and then stepping into action lead to bigger leaps in results. The new results then inform your vision which informs your action steps and so on. It becomes a creative inspirational and manifestation cycle.

Leap – Step – Step – Leap

And so it goes.

This week – put on your calendar time for reflection and visioning. Your time will be more productive and creative if you get out of your office. Visioning isn’t done at your desk – that’s where the “step-step” implementation happens.

Then each day ask yourself: “What are my Daily 3?” The Daily 3 are the 3 action steps you’ll take toward your big leap.
